What on Earth is Wrong with Islam
Islam, as many know, is the brainchild of the false prophet Mohammed just after the year 1000, making it the newest of the Abrahamic religions. It borrowed many customs and traditions from it’s parent religion Judaism, but (and correlative with the tensions between Christians and muslims), it goes against many doctrines of the Christian faith. Many errors exist in Islamic teaching and are contrary to the Word of God, chiefly that the Holy Bible is the completed, inerrant Word of God — adding to these Scriptures is not only unnecessary due to the revelations from our Father, but also sinful. Jesus of Nazareth was the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets and the causation for many of the miracles given to us by the Father; that Mohammed would lie about further prophesy and mislead multitudes of generations of muslims seems like a horrendous step in the spiritual history of mankind. Discerning what is wrong with the Islamic faith is a step towards understanding it’s flaws and can be of use when ministering to muslims who seek out Christ.
Islamic people refer to Jesus as Isa, and believe that he was a prophet sent by their god, Allah, and was born out of the virgin Mary because of this affiliation — they do not, however, believe that he was divine or that he is the Son of God (Quran 5:17). They also do not believe that he was crucified for our sins (Quran 4:157), but that he was sent to heaven, again by their god Allah (Quran 4:158). The reasonable explanations for Mohammed’s attempt to discredit the role and legacy of Jesus of Nazareth are to credit himself and grant a modicum of authority upon himself. Many characters from the Biblical history of mankind are borrowed by the false prophet, including the Islamic authored version of the story of Jesus of Nazareth, and the Angels Gabriel and Michael (also Judaism). This practice is a further attempt to grant authenticity to the Quran and the false prophet that created it.
The word of Islam is contrary to the teachings of the Apostles, and is contrary to the Word of God. It’s teachings on Jesus of Nazareth present itself as a form of Anti-Christ, drawing people away from the true Gospel and good news and towards a false religion. Another aspect of it’s falsehood lies in the fact that Islamic muslims believe that entry into Heaven is guaranteed by good works, specifically the pillars of Islam (Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm, and Hajj. Contrary to the true teachings, good works such as these cannot grant entry into the true Heaven, which is by the Grace of God Almighty alone, not a result of works (Ephesians 2:8). Furthermore, Jesus of Nazareth is the way, and the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through him (John 14:6).
Further criticism to Islam comes upon the immorality of Sharia law, which is observed by Islamic muslims and enforces strict Archaic traditions central to the muslim people. While muslims and public policy is to understand that this type of government or political policy will not affect American internal politics, Sharia law presents a problem for many people around the world that are indeed affected by it. Comparative with Jesus of Nazareth, the false prophet Mohammed taught his people to kill, enslave, and cripple their enemies in the name of their god Allah. He (Mohammed) was also a slave owner and a slave trader, did not perform any true healings or miracles, and teaches specific falsehoods that are contrary to a loving relationship with God:
1.) Allah cannot be known personally by human beings. FALSE: God desires a relationship with human beings (ergo our creation), and has granted special revelation to many true Prophets over the history of men, including Moses, Isaiah, and even John the Baptist.
2. Jesus of Nazareth was a mere Prophet, not the only begotten Son of God. Everyone has heard and understands that if you do not exalt the son, you disrespect the father, and if you do not accept the son, you do not accept the father (1 John 2:23). Muslims are actually denied by the Father because they deny the Son.
3. Allah does not have love or positive attributes. True muslims feel that love towards mankind demeans the nature of Allah and deem it blasphemous. Furthermore, the 99 attributes of Allah are all negative attributes, claiming what the muslim god is not. There are no comparative attributes i.e. benevolent or omnipresent.
As Christians, we should be wary of the influence that Islam has on the world, leading astray millions of lost sheep whose hearts need to hear the Word of God and the good news of the Gospel. These muslims can be defensive when told that their religious models that were created and instituted by the false prophet Mohammed are false prophesy, wrong, and invite sin into the lives of millions who follow the religion; nevertheless, it is our greatest gift that we can offer our muslim brethren: the gift of salvation through the teachings of the Son of God, Jesus of Nazareth. Instead of a strict, archaic system established on bloodshed and dominance in the Middle East, let us show our muslim brothers the meaning of love and the Will of the true God so that they can have the same opportunities that we have as children of the Lord.
